Ingredients:
4 cups
All-Purpose Flour2 tsps
Salt1 tsp
Baking Soda1 cup
Brown Sugar (packed)1.5 cups
Butter2
Eggs1 cup
Molasse2 cups
Rolled Oat1 cup
White Sugar1 cup
Water1 cup
Walnut (chopped)Directions:

Blend flour, salt, and baking soda

Add brown sugar, margarine, eggs and molasses

Stir until smooth

Blend in oats

Roll dough out on floured board, about 1/8 inch thick

Cut with 2 1/2 inch round cutter

Place half of the rounds on an ungreased cookie sheet

To Make Filling: Stir until boiling: 1 cup cut-up pitted dates, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/4 cup water

Mixture will be thick

Stir in 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Cool before using

Spread 1 teaspoon filling on center of each cookie

Cut a cross in the middle of the remaining rounds

Place over filling-topped rounds
